Subject: One example of loosing salvation NT |
Bible Note: "Can't you see it? We are secure because we trust in our position in Him as members of His body. Even now God is working in usto fashion us as vessels of honor. With His powerfull and skilled hands He molds and shapes us, more each day, into little christs. Can the clay say to the potter, why did you make me like this?" Two points...I understand from your belief that one must be eternally secure as he had nothing to do with his salvation in the first place. Secondly, I agree that anyone who holds fast to their faith in the provision of salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ despite the ups and downs of their walk, will remain in His protection. I have heard preachers who believe if you backslide you have to be 'saved' again and I know this is fallacy because one can't be 'saved again'. But based on the scriptural content of 1 Peter, I am not sure one can't 20 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, he last state has become worse for them than the first. 21 For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them." The QUESTION and as believers contending for the faith...based on my previous post, what is the correct place for these verses in your belief system of eternal security? These scripture are not stating that these were not ones who had received the revelation or 'knowledge of Jesus' and HAD ESCAPED....I do not believe in light of these verses one can conclude these were not saved..thus the phrase 'difficult verses' have been applied to them. I would like any and all comments on these verses, rather than dismissing them because they do not seem to fit our theology..As a Bible study forum we need to become willing to lay asside our theology and remain open and teachable by the Holy Spirit. I WONDER IF... They are believers who live a tortured and convicted life of disobedience,(thus the statement their last condition being worse than their first) possibly holding to faith in Jesus as saviour but not allowing or submitting to Him as Lord?
