Bible Note: I agree with you completely, however, some people in some denominations, no matter how much they follow the "way" believe you must confess continually to "remain" saved...I used to be so confused by this, as I always wondered, if you have a special prayer time, and die sometime before you get there, then what? I am not talking about people who "choose" to fall away...that's another matter, the unpardonable sin...cursing God, or denying Him. You are absolutely correct...I agree with you completely. why then all the warnings to guard your salvation? Because it is precious...what a price..You mentioned Peter - What if he didn't repent but ran away instead? Same for Saul - What if he said "Hey, I'd rather be blind than to promote that Jesus thing."? Could you really imagine that happening? I think that light thing would have probably gotten my attention, how about you? Peter walked with the Lord on earth, and saw it all...couldn't imagine that one either. But what about those people that walked and talked the path to God thru Jesus, accepted Him fully, was baptized, attended church and church funtions, witnessed to others, etc... but later because of maybe a loss of children or spouse or maybe over time because he though that he could not lose his salvation became stagnant and fell into the ways of the world and forgot about God over time and then died. Are they still saved? As for this one, I had a mother who you would have sworn was a Christian..did all those things, however, could never understand being born again in the real sense..Did all kinds of things, acceptable to Christians, gossiped, backbiting, lying, just not the socially unacceptable stuff. When she died I was with her...I don't know what she saw at that moment, however the fear on her face was unspeakable...she screamed and died. Did she ever really know the Lord? I cannot imagine it with the way she behaved..the hurt she caused with her mouth was out of this world. If it is sin, I would prefer plain out sex, at least that involves some form of love..I am not advocating that at all, however, the more covert sins, do so much damage, they are like cluster bombs. I believe like you do..the end is in God's hands. Salvation is through the blood, and by their fruits you will know them. J |
