Bible Note: You're a real corker...When I became a Christian, so did a bunch of other people..not Church types. One couple had been living together for many years, unmarried, devoted to one another, monogamous, and inseparable. The "elders" left us alone, and answered questions without "telling" us how to revise our lives. The guy's sect. ran into their house one day, and says"the Bible says we aren't supposed to have sex before marriage"..we really did not know ANYTHING! They freaked out...stopped having sex, however continued living together, as they couldn't find a verse on that one. The "elders" just stayed mute. Good thing, as they were finally married. They told me later, if someone had told them to split up at that time, they would have left the church. Today, they are fabulous Christians..consumed in wisdom..and engaged in Christian service as their vocation. We really had to grow A LOT! The other thing we began was a "fasting and study group" every Wed. We wrote down our prayer requests, and ticked them off everytime we got an answer...we were VERY literal...If the Bible said, pray, I shall answer, we took it completely literal and expected no less. Looking back, I wish I could go back to such a time of innocence. The Lord blessed each of us enormously, and all of us are now using our vocations to serve HIM. Three are now pastors. Sometimes, it pays to shut up and just wait upon the Lord. He is amazing and His timing is always right on. J |
