1 | One example of loosing salvation NT | Luke 8:13 | John Reformed | 88897 | ||
"So, is it possible to having once tasted the grace of God to actually chose to turn back and not merely backslide..but to go to enemy camp against God? God knows!" Dear gracefull, 2 Pet 1:21 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. When one becomes a christian, it is because He has recieved a revelation from God. Which is that Jesus is the Christ, The Son of the Living God. Just as the prophets of old could not forbear speaking the words which God had given them to speak, It is God Himself who caused us to believe and to confess this HOLY truth! 16:15-17 He *said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." And Jesus said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. Those who believe that it was the proper exercise of the human will that allowed them to enter the eternal kingdom of God, must believe it is will power that permits them to remain in it. I guess that they might complain in heaven because they have deprived the ability to freely sin! John 1:13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. OK. The Bible says that we are born again by "the will of God". Then, what makes you believe we can be "un-born again" by the mis-use of man's will? Eph 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. WE are HIS workmanship!!! HE is the POTTER, WE are the clay!!! Can't you see it? We are secure because we trust in our position in Him as members of His body. Even now God is working in usto fashion us as vessels of honor. With His powerfull and skilled hands He molds and shapes us, more each day, into little christs. Can the clay say to the potter, why did you make me like this? Sorry, if I have gotten a bit emotional, but it is at times difficult to get one's point across and I forget that I'm but dust awaiting glory. John |

"The doctrine of eternal security rests on a proper concept of what God actually does when He saves a soul." - - - - - - - - - - - - - "In order to lose one's salvation all of these works of God would have to be undone, and THE BIBLE NOWHERE EVEN HINTS THAT THIS IS POSSIBLE." ____________________ John Reformed: Thank you for an excellent post. In agreement with you, I offer the following: 'THE SECURITY OF THE BELIEVER 'A. The Issue. Can a true believer ever lose his salvation by sinning, ceasing to believe, or in any other way? 'B. The Proof of Security. The doctrine of eternal security rests on a proper concept of what God actually does when He saves a soul. '1. He loves to the uttermost. '2. He purposes to keep in spite of everything. '3. He intends to present us faultless before Himself. '4. His Son ever lives to make intercession to keep us saved. '5. His Spirit has placed us into the Body of Christ. '6. His Spirit has sealed us until the day of redemption. '7. His Word guarantees that nothing (including ourselves) can separate us from Christ. 'In order to lose one's salvation all of these works of God would have to be undone, and THE BIBLE NOWHERE EVEN HINTS THAT THIS IS POSSIBLE. 'C. The Problem Passages. '1. Hebrews 6:4-6. If this teaches that one can lose his salvation, it also teaches that one can never be saved a second time. '2. John 15:6. Probably refers to the judgment seat of Christ. '3. James 2:14-26. Nonworking faith is not a faith that saves in the first place. '4. 2 Peter 2 and Jude are referring to false teachers, who in Jude's estimation were not true believers (Jude 19; compare Rom. 8:9). '5. Matthew 24:13. End of what? (The Great Tribulation.)' ____________________ (Scripture references for section B.) 1. John 13:1 2. John 10:28-30 3. Jude 24 4.
