1 | One example of loosing salvation NT | Luke 8:13 | New Creature | 88838
Dear John Convince me through Scripture that "once saved always saved" as is being presented by many today is accurate and Bibical. As of yet I find no Scriptural support for it. So far you and others have provided much Scripture on this subject, without convincing me, or swaying my thinking on this topic. I am convinced by Scripture as I prayerfully read and study and chew over it. I have no intention of swaying your opinions on the matter. Let Scripture also be the only book that helps you form your opinion. I will continue to post my opinions on this topic, and no doubt you will continue to add your rebutals to my comments Thats what the forum is all about Keep up the diligent work May the Lord also Bless you New Creature |

2 | One example of loosing salvation NT | Luke 8:13 | John Reformed | 88871
Dear New Creature, It is beyond my ability to convince anyone of anything. All I can do is try to point to, what I believe, are scriptural evidences. It is true that I also seek to use whatever reasoning the Lord has blessed me with, to insure that what I believe is in harmony with the rest of Scripture. Frankly, I believe that the Bible clearly teaches that God always succeeds in everything which He sets to do. Is 46:10-12 "Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, 'My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure'; Calling a bird of prey from the east, The man of My purpose from a far country. Truly I have spoken; truly I will bring it to pass. I have planned it, surely I will do it. "Listen to Me, you stubborn-minded, Who are far from righteousness..." I believe that this verse (among many others that speak of God's power and eternal purpose) is foundational for correct interpretation of the rest of Scripture. He says that He declares "the end from the beginning,"; 'My purpose will be established,"And I will accomplish all My good pleasure" Therefore, for one to say that God All-Mighty fails to save (and keep saved) those whom He has given to His Son is to deny what Isa 46:10 teaches us about the nature of God Himself. Show me where I am wrong and I promise to re-examine my belief. God Bless, John Reformed |

This is for everyone. Please pray for me! As some of you know from responding to my question a couple days ago, I am going through a period of intense doubt in my faith. For those of you who have never experienced doubt, let me tell you it's the scariest thing I've ever gone through in my whole life! I feel like I'm inching slowly toward a cliff of unbelief and once I go over the edge there's no return. It feels like the foundation of Christ that I've stood on most of my life is crumbling beneath my feet. I have been praying and reading my bible a lot lately hoping that it would reveal truth and put me at ease. The oposite is actually occuring. It is actually fueling my doubt because of all the ambiguity in the bible that can be interpreted in many different ways. I believe that there is absolute truth. Therefore one side of this salvation debate is right and the other is wrong (or both are wrong, but I won't go there yet.) If there is a God (which I never even questioned until 2 weeks ago), then he has given Christians the Holy Spirit to reveal truth in his word. How is it then that there can be disagreement on such a crutial issue? Wouldn't God reveal the truth to his people if his word is true? He also wouldn't let his people slip through the cracks, right? Well if you go to exchristian.org, you can read first hand stories about sincere Christians losing their faith by coming to an intelectual impass. I hope you all can give some Godly insight to help me out in this horrible time for me. Andrew |

Andrew, I feel your torment. All of us experience times where are faith is challenged and we question what we believe. Im not sure what exact issue you are struggling with, it sounds like the salvation issue. You can be assured that if know that you are a sinner and have repented and placed your trust in Christ alone,His death buriel and resurrection, you are saved. Settled! To grow you must be in God's word and be lifted up with prayer and support from other christians. Books that have helped me defend the faith are The Case for Christ, by Lee Srobel and The Case for Faith, by Lee Strobel. More Than A Carpenter by Josh McDowell. Other works include If there is a God why are there Atheist? by RC Sproul. Anything by Sproul is good. Well, I am sure I can speak for all the christians on the forum, that we love you as a brother and want to encourage you stay focused of Him and His word. For more encourgament you can email me at bradfr01@hotmail.com Jude 1:24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, 2 Tim 1:12 For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day. |
