I agree with you completely, however, some people in some denominations, no matter how much they follow the "way" believe you must confess continually to "remain" saved...I used to be so confused by this, as I always wondered, if you have a special prayer time, and die sometime before you get there, then what? I am not talking about people who "choose" to fall away...that's another matter, the unpardonable sin...cursing God, or denying Him. You are absolutely correct...I agree with you completely. why then all the warnings to guard your salvation? Because it is precious...what a price..You mentioned Peter - What if he didn't repent but ran away instead? Same for Saul - What if he said "Hey, I'd rather be blind than to promote that Jesus thing."? Could you really imagine that happening? I think that light thing would have probably gotten my attention, how about you? Peter walked with the Lord on earth, and saw it all...couldn't imagine that one either. But what about those people that walked and talked the path to God thru Jesus, accepted Him fully, was baptized, attended church and church funtions, witnessed to others, etc... but later because of maybe a loss of children or spouse or maybe over time because he though that he could not lose his salvation became stagnant and fell into the ways of the world and forgot about God over time and then died. Are they still saved? As for this one, I had a mother who you would have sworn was a Christian..did all those things, however, could never understand being born again in the real sense..Did all kinds of things, acceptable to Christians, gossiped, backbiting, lying, just not the socially unacceptable stuff. When she died I was with her...I don't know what she saw at that moment, however the fear on her face was unspeakable...she screamed and died. Did she ever really know the Lord? I cannot imagine it with the way she behaved..the hurt she caused with her mouth was out of this world. If it is sin, I would prefer plain out sex, at least that involves some form of love..I am not advocating that at all, however, the more covert sins, do so much damage, they are like cluster bombs. I believe like you do..the end is in God's hands. Salvation is through the blood, and by their fruits you will know them. J |

I'm sorry to hear about your mother's passing. I'm going thru a somewhat similar problem now. My father has only a few weeks left (cancer) and thinks he is going to heaven because he went to church when he was a kid. He doesn't want anything to do with church now and does not want to talk about it. I even bought him the two Left Behind movies hoping that would spark something but he refuses to watch them. He thinks he's made his peace with God because he allowed a chruch chaplin to pray for him. I've been asked not to talk about it with him anymore. All I can do is leave it in God's hands and pray that He reaches him somehow before it's too late. Jesus did say that many will call his name but only few will be let in. I believe this to be all the "Christians" out there, like my dad, that feel that they are "saved" because they used to attend church, or their family is saved so I must be also, or say that I attend church every week so I must be saved - but the rest of the week, they forget all about Jesus. I think these people really believe they are saved but may find out otherwise when they stand before God. I think a lot of this could be prevented if all the churches had the guts to preach the full gospel - at least once in a while. (I'm not saying that they should preach fire and brimstone sermons but more explain what Jesus's death and resurrection meant for us today, how we need God's love and guidance, and how we need to live that life in today's world.) |

It's sad, but there isn't anything you can do.. Take care of yourself...this kind of stuff can eat you alive. A friend sent me this, and it's too bad we cannot share this with everyone..there are a few on here that are really bonkers. It's not scriptural, however there is a lot of truth in it..here goes: 1) God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts. 2) Dear God, I have a problem. It's me 3) Growing old is inevitable, growing UP is optional. 4) There is no key to happiness. The door is always open. 5) Silence is often misinterpreted, but never misquoted and is ALWAYS golden. 6) Do the math....count your blessings. 7) Faith is the ability to not panic. 8) Laugh every day, it's like inner jogging. 9) If you worry, pray. And then when you pray...don't worry 10) As a child of God, prayer is like calling home everyday. 11) Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape. 12) The most important things in your home are the people. 13) When we get tangled up in our problems, be still, so God can untangle the knot. 14) A grudge is a heavy thing to carry. 15) He who dies with the most toys is still dead. 16) We do not remember days, but moments. Life is moving too fast, so enjoy our precious moments. 17) Talking is sharing. Listening is caring. 18) Nothing is real to you until you experience it, otherwise it's just hearsay. 19) It's all right to sit on your pity pot every now and again. You are welcome...wasn't a hoot? I cannot take the credit... a friend sent it too me...here's another Do you know what would have happened if the Three Wise Men had been the Three Wise Women? They would have stopped and asked for directions, arrived on time, helped deliver the baby, cleaned up the stable, made a casserole, and brought some disposable diapers, and pratical gifts. This should have the legalists completely out of their minds....!!! |

None of the folk sayings that aren't original with with friend are Biblical. Saying there are THREE wise men, proves that you do not know Scripture (Matt 2:1-12) ... and the women would never have gotten there on time, since the star shone when He was born. It is not being a legalist when one is factual, but if one is not factual, when is a _ _ _ _. I suggest before you quote, you check the facts, then cite the source, if it is correct. |
