Subject: Not my will? |
Bible Note: Hank:I agree with you about backsliding does not mean losing our salvation. Having grown up in the early 1950's the term "backsliden" was often used in the Baptist churches I grew up in. I have never related the word with losing salvation, backsliding was the term only for those who had become carnal. This has been my experience, and perhaps others have had a different understanding. The word Trinity is found no where in the New Testament either, however we do have the proof for using the word. I have related the word backsliding to Peter in Matthew 26:69 to 75, Luke 22:31,32. Also in I Timothy 5:15 refers to turrning to satan. In Revelation 2:4 there it refers to turning from our first love. Living in a carnal state, is to my understanding, to be considered to be "backsliden". I am not tring to split hairs, but I have just never considered or related "Backsliding" as in the same contex of losing ones salvation. Maybe, as I stated it is a term used differently from one group to another. So, I am saying, I am not quite so sure we should slash "backsliding", anymore than the word Trinity, and others that have simular meanings for words mmentioned in the Bible. I hope this gives you some more thought about slashing words. I mean this with no disrespect, only in pure brotherly love. agape. justme |
