Would you deny that Jesus was God in the flesh? As is made known in John 1:1-14. Or as I Qouted previosly Acts 4:12 Neither is ther salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.I guess I should back up and include verses 10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Isreal, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazereth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. In my statement I am simply stating what the Bible makes obvious. That Jesus is one and the same as God the father and or the Holy Ghost. |

If Jesus is also the Father and the Holy Spirit, that was a neat trick He pulled on us in Luke 3:22, huh? Why you reckon He did that? Are you the former RevC that was here a while back? Just curious. retxar |

How He choses to manifest Himself does not change the fact of who he is. 1 John 5:7 states irrefutibly "For there are three that bear record in heaven, The Father, The Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. Read on down in the chapter through verse 13. If you don't believe this then you have no basis for your salvation. And to answer your second question. No I am not RevC. Last night was the first time I've ever been to this website. God bless you in your search for the truth. Jesus is the way the truth and the life according to John14:6.
5 | Jesus' name baptism? | Acts 2:38 | Ray | 29642
Hi RevRobert, I think that the point is well taken that the Holy Spirit coming upon Him places them both at the same place and at the same time; two distinct Persons. Let me tell you that I have 1 John 5:7 in my personal copy. I believe that it should be in the text and not in the margin. But I think that you would do well to consider that the word "one" is not capitalized. The Lord God is one God. Jesus is God so He is called the Holy One. The Holy Spirit is "one called alongside to help". In other words the three Persons are one thing in essence. Another thing to note is our verse in the margin says that the literal reading for the last words of verse 8 is "and the three are *for the one thing." "For the one thing" would refer back to "and these three are one"[thing, essence]. Brackets are mine. I have written elsewhere on the forum about this verse but here again is my read of it. 1 John 5:8, "For there are three that bear witness in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness on earth, the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are for the one thing." As far as verse 13 is concerned, the name of the Son of God is Jesus and that is who we believe in for eternal life. Verse 20 says, "This is the true God and eternal life." Later, Ray |
