Bible Note: Analogia Scriptura One of the basic principles of biblical interpretation is the *analogia scriptura*, the analogy of Scripture. In other words, we must compare Scripture with Scripture in order to understand its full and proper sense. And SINCE THE BIBLE DOESN'T CONTRADICT ITSELF, ANY INTERPRETATION OF A SPECIFIC PASSAGE THAT CONTRADICTS THE GENERAL TEACHING OF THE BIBLE IS TO BE REJECTED. Johnny: First let me say I truly appreciate and respect you. So please do not take this Note as personal criticism. What follows is in no way intended to be hurtful. "Jesus Said that His Father is Greater than He is." This is what you have repeated over and over and over again. Johnny, I merely wish to point out that we cannot take one verse of Scripture and build a hard and fast doctrine on it, while ignoring the general teaching of (every other verse related to that subject in) the Bible. Please carefully consider the principle of analogia scriptura, as defined above. Grace to you, kalos |
