AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, "Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. |
Subject: Jesus' name baptism? |
Bible Note: Nehemiah: You write: "My advice to the gentleman who responded to my question is that you put your trust in no man and don't let another interpret for you." Is anyone aware of the fact that Christ gave to the church teachers (Eph 4:11)? Can someone explain to me, since Christ did give to the church teachers "for the edifying of the body of Christ", then where do we get off running around telling people to pay no attention to other men (teachers)? Is there not an ounce of logic here? You write: "The mistake that the gentleman is making is quoting another man's ministry." Again, since Christ gave to the church teachers, how can it be a mistake to quote someone else? I would rather quote one of God's teachers -- although frequently their writings are too Biblical, orderly and logical to be understood by the masses -- I would rather quote someone who knows what he's talking about than to write long, rambling, incoherent, imcompetent, irrelevant, incomprehensible, nonsensical, divisive diatribes against the postings of others, postings which obviously many neither understand nor try to understand. You write: "The answer is not in man. We all error. The truth is in the word." If there is no value in reading or listening to man, then let's just shut down all the Christian publishers and bookstores, all the Sunday school classes (since they are inevitably taught by people), all pulpits (how dare the preacher presume to interpret the Scirptures?) and, while we're at it, we may as well shut down the Forum. The reason being that not only is the Forum made up of humans, but also that many write long-winded answers without once citing a single verse of Scripture. Or else they totally ignore RELEVANT Scriptural answers to their questions when those Scriptures contradict what they already made up their mind to believe. Additionally, whether a person believes in the Trinity or doesn't believe in the Trinity, the following quotation is still true: “It would be inappropriate to argue that Jehovah’s Witnesses or various other groups are non-Christian because they deny the doctrine of the Trinity, but that the United Pentecostal Church can reject the Trinity and still be considered Christian.” |
