AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, "Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. |
Bible Question: Apparently the apostles baptized in the name of Jesus. Was this a revelation from the Holy Spirit after Jesus said in Matthew 28:19 to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? |
Bible Answer: Doe it matter that much? I know there are denominational splits on this issue...but if there's one triune God, then you should be just as baptized if you use any or all of the names. This is NOT a magic spell! Besides, there's still room to think that you can get to heaven without baptism at all, tho' that's a ceremonial part of the process for most....the thief on the cross---who baptized him? Roscoe |
