AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, "Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. |
Subject: Jesus' name baptism? |
Bible Note: You write: "The name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is JESUS!" Could you give us the book, chapter and verse in the Bible where it says that? "Jesus tells us to baptize 'in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit' (Matt. 28:19), and THERE IS SIMPLY NO REASON TO THINK THAT JESUS WAS HERE CRYPTICALLY REFERRING TO HIMSELF. The fact that next to no one throughout history has understood Jesus to be doing this itself shows that either the Oneness interpretation is wrong, or Jesus is a very poor communicator (and on a point which supposedly affects our salvation!)"
