AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, "Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. |

Bible Note: Hi Johnny and anyone interested in this verse, I believe Scripture when it says that "the one sent is not greater than the one who sent him." However, I believe that the One who sent Jesus Christ has made His name known to them, and will make it known; John 17:26. They both are One. The name and authority that Jesus had came from Him; John 17:2. The use of the comma that you suggest and is indeed used in the King James, can show either the difference in Persons or it can add to the picture of Jesus Christ being "in" God. In between these commas is Jesus Christ and we truly understand that He came forth from God; John 17:8. In verse 3, I can picture the only true (God), and in the commas the Son of God, whom He sent. This is a rather different posting, but I hope it helps someone. Later, Ray |
