Subject: Trinity? |
Bible Note: Greetings Dwayne! There is a very simply reason why name is in the singular in Mt. 28:19. It is because 'Father', 'Son', and 'Holy Ghost' are also in the singular. It would like a government offical sayings to someone, "Stop in the name of George Bush, and of Dick Chenney, and of Trent Lott!". Grammar would prevent us from saying, "...in the names of...". Theologically, it would also be singular because no where does Scripture teach that there are three Gods. Scripture is quite clear that there is only one God. However, Scripture is also quite clear that there are three distinct Persons within the one Godhead (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost). Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
