AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, "Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. |
Subject: Jesus' name baptism? |
Bible Note: Greetings Hank! Coming from you my friend, I'll take that as a compliment! I think! :-) Razor soup - that's not made out of one of those ugly pigs is it? I agree with your perspective my friend. The only problem I've ever had with the "name of Jesus" position is that we are told that baptizing in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is somehow wrong, even though it is spelled out quite clearly in Mt. 28:19. Like you, I believe that it is obedience to the act itself which is important. I've even heard of missionaries who baptized in sand when water was not available. The details are not magical, it is the spiritual significance behind the act which is important. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
