AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, "Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. |
Subject: Jesus' name baptism? |
Bible Note: Dear Hank, Greetings in the name of Jesus! Since the primary purpose of water baptism is the cleansing work of God (sanctification by the Holy Spirit) in the new life of the believer, I would agree that the attitude and heart of the believer is more important than the words spoken by the baptizer (baptist?). IMHO, this would still lead us to: "always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;" Ephesians 5:20 NASB. and, "Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father." Colossians 3:17 NASB. Blessings, my friend, in Christ Jesus, charis |
