AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, "Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. |
Subject: Jesus' name baptism? |
Bible Note: Dear Lourdes, Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus! Thank you for your answer and Scripture references. However, I do not see an answer to my question. Truly, as written in Acts 1:8... "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." NASB But soon after this 'empowerment' the disciples baptized in the name of Jesus. Were they disobedient to Matthew 28:19? Are there any references to water baptism done in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit? Please note that I am NOT "Jesus-only" or against the Trinity. Blessings and peace!
