Apparently the apostles baptized in the name of Jesus. Was this a revelation from the Holy Spirit after Jesus said in Matthew 28:19 to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit?

Yes it is a revelation that came after Jesus fulfilled all he was required to do to pay for our pardon from sin and death. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. The name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is JESUS! 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word (Jesus), and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. Info in parenthesis is mine. John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth

Dear RevRobert, Greetings in Jesus' name! I agree with the statements you made so far. I baptize in the name of the Lord Jesus for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38) and the circumcision of heart (Colossians 2:11,12). But I am also a firm believer in the triune nature of God. Though I do not like the 'Trinitarian' moniker much, I am completely against the 'Oneness' or 'Jesus-only' bent. As has been noted, much has been said about this issue, so reading through this thread and a few others might be helpful. Blessings to you in Christ Jesus, charis |

I agree whole heartedly. In Genisis 1:26 And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness:. And so They did we are a spirit, we have a soul(mind, will, emotions), and we live in a body. Yet we are not three seperate beings. The same way God is the Holy Spirit, He has a will, and he came in flesh in the person of Jesus. God bless all.
