1 | Jesus' name baptism? | Acts 2:38 | charis | 257
Apparently the apostles baptized in the name of Jesus. Was this a revelation from the Holy Spirit after Jesus said in Matthew 28:19 to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit?
2 | Jesus' name baptism? | Acts 2:38 | DWAYNE281W | 169592
YES THIS WAS A REVELATION AFTER THE APOSTLES RECEIVED THE HOLY GHOST ON THE DAY OF PENTECOST. THEY REALIZED THAT THE FATHER HAS A NAME,(JOHN 5:43-46)THE SON HAS A NAME(WHICH IS JESUS) ,AND THE HOLY GHOST HAS A NAME(JOHN 14:25-27). JESUS AND GOD ARE ONE IN THE SAME. |

4 | Trinity? | Acts 2:38 | DWAYNE281W | 169683
HELLO LIONHEART, I BELEIVE JUST WHAT ACTS 2:38 SAYS. JUST AS PETER FOLLOWED JESUS INSTRUCTIONS IN ACTS 1:8, HE RECEIVED POWER FROM ON HIGH AND WAS FILLED WITH THE HOLYGHOST. PETER UNDERSTOOD WHAT JESUS MEANT IN MATTHEW 28:19, THATS THE REVELATION I'M REFERRING TO. THE WORD NAME IN MATTHEW 28:19 IS SINGULAR, AND FATHER IS NOT A NAME, SON IS NOT NAME,.NOR IS HOLYGHOST A NAME. SO WHAT IS THE NAME, JESUS IS THE NAME. SALVATION IS NOT GIVEN IN ANY OTHER NAME ACCEPT THE NAME OF JESUS PLEASE RESPOND, DWAYNE |

5 | Trinity? | Acts 2:38 | Morant61 | 169687
Greetings Dwayne! There is a very simply reason why name is in the singular in Mt. 28:19. It is because 'Father', 'Son', and 'Holy Ghost' are also in the singular. It would like a government offical sayings to someone, "Stop in the name of George Bush, and of Dick Chenney, and of Trent Lott!". Grammar would prevent us from saying, "...in the names of...". Theologically, it would also be singular because no where does Scripture teach that there are three Gods. Scripture is quite clear that there is only one God. However, Scripture is also quite clear that there are three distinct Persons within the one Godhead (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost). Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
