NASB | 1 Corinthians 2:14 ¶ But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 2:14 ¶ But the natural [unbelieving] man does not accept the things [the teachings and revelations] of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness [absurd and illogical] to him; and he is incapable of understanding them, because they are spiritually discerned and appreciated, [and he is unqualified to judge spiritual matters]. |
Subject: How can anyone be saved? |
Bible Note: Good Afternoon Brother John Since 'the natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God' how were we(those that are born again) able to receive/believe on Jesus? Aren't we all 'natural' men prior to being born again? Another question: The Amp version refers to the 'the natural, nonspiritual man'. Is it possible to be born again but still be 'nonspiritual' or immature ('HOWEVER, BRETHREN, I could not talk to you as to spiritual (men), but as to nonspiritual (men of the flesh, in whom the carnal nature predominates), as to mere infants (in the new life) in Christ (unable to talk yet!) 1 Cor 3:1)? Though I still don't see this issue the way you do, it has been interesting and challenging reading thru the thread. Abba Father Bless you... Meredith |
