NASB | 1 Corinthians 2:14 ¶ But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 2:14 ¶ But the natural [unbelieving] man does not accept the things [the teachings and revelations] of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness [absurd and illogical] to him; and he is incapable of understanding them, because they are spiritually discerned and appreciated, [and he is unqualified to judge spiritual matters]. |
Subject: How can anyone be saved? |
Bible Note: Dear Sir Pent, A cursory glance at the number of posts and replys I have engaged in may provide an explanation for my tardiness in repling to your post. Frankly, I'm overwhelmed! Keep in mind as well that to present everything at once would be impossible. I am convinced that before anyone will be persuaded of the Scriptural foundation of election, they must first be aware of the hopeless estate of fallen man. The verses I quoted were to prove that very point. If you still believe that man has an inherent spark of spiritual goodness or anything that can contribute to salvation then the road ahead to agreement will be, at best, a rocky one. What do you believe concerning man's inability or ability regarding salvation? Does God do 99 percent but man must supply the all important final 1 percent. Or is Salvation 100 percent the work of God? John |
