NASB | 1 Corinthians 2:14 ¶ But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 2:14 ¶ But the natural [unbelieving] man does not accept the things [the teachings and revelations] of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness [absurd and illogical] to him; and he is incapable of understanding them, because they are spiritually discerned and appreciated, [and he is unqualified to judge spiritual matters]. |
Subject: How can anyone be saved? |
Bible Note: Hello Kalos, I could get into quite a discussion about the translation committee, led by Wescott and Hort, who were arrogant enough to re write the Greek text and now it is known the Wescott and Hort text, where most of the modern translations are translated from, but I won't. I am a KJV man only. I believe the Holy Spirit reveals the Word to us, it has little if anything to do with our wisdom. I used to use 10-20 bibles at our bible studies, but found that my choice of which verses sounded good to me was the interpretation I would put on it, so consquently I use KJV and rely on the Holy Spirit, and interactive studies like these to reveal what God wants for me at the time. The important thing to realize is that we must walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit, just like Paul wrote in Col. 2:6 and John wrote in 1 John 2:6. Funny, they are both the same verse number.:) God Bless you Jeff W |
