NASB | 1 Corinthians 2:14 ¶ But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 2:14 ¶ But the natural [unbelieving] man does not accept the things [the teachings and revelations] of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness [absurd and illogical] to him; and he is incapable of understanding them, because they are spiritually discerned and appreciated, [and he is unqualified to judge spiritual matters]. |

Bible Note: John, in your post in which you specifically address me, you say "All I get from your side is...God wouldn't do that...it's unfair!!" To all who have read the rather large number of posts that I have entered on this forum, and to you, John Reformed, in particular, please show me evidence wherein any post that I have ever made at any time by even the remotest of all possible implications would lead any rational human being to the inference that I believe the Holy and Sovereign God to be unfair. You haven't found it and you perfectly well know it, so why did you post such a falsehood as this? You may defend Calvinism till the cows come home if you wish, but you are not going to gain much ground by accusing others of, to use your phraseology, "making light" of Scripture simply because they do not happen to espouse the 5-Point Calvinist doctrine in toto and issuing "friendly admonitions" because they question and challenge certain tenets of the Reformed faith. I think you must enjoy argumentation, for I can find no other viable reason why you continue to play the same TULIP theme to an audience that has already heard it many times over. I do not mean to create undue tension on this forum, but there comes a time when frankness and candor are in order, and that time has come, in my view. Let's stop the innuendo, and the unending soap boxing of one belief system at the expense of all others, and recognize that there exists within each of us -- no matter how fervently we espouse any "ism", any set of theological beliefs -- the capacity to be wrong, whether we like it or not and whether we are willing to admit it or not. Grace to you, and peace. --Hank |
