1 | How can anyone be saved? | 1 Cor 2:14 | SoloVerdad | 140888
Hello Jeff First let me apologise, if I sound rude. But, what is that? Where did you read that the obeying of the Gospel cannot save us? It is your idea or somebody told you? You say that the Gospel gives us obedience. Where did you read this? That it causes us to obey all of God's commandments! I have no idea where you read this either, sounds good,! but I don't know where it is in the Bible. After that, you point to Romans 16:25-26. And I read it but I did not see any relationship with what you are telling me. The only thing I see in those two verses is that this guy, Tertius, writing a doxology to the only wise God, (writing what Paul has asking him to write to finish the epistle) He start saying “to him who is able to establish you by my gospel” So right here the Bible, not me, is telling you the power of the Gospel, “it is able to establish you” what does it mean to establish you? Doesn't it mean to give a new start? set you well? and all of this according to the revelation of the mistery hidden for long ages past. But now it is revealed and all the nations might believe and obey him. The question here now is "How do we obey him?" Have not you read what's been the problem? Not all have obeyed or accepted the gospel (good news) (Romans 10:16) Can you tell me what do you understand when you read 2 Thes 1:8. Isn't it telling you that the Gospel needs to be obey? Jeff, indeed, you cannot obey the Gospel if you don't know what the Gospel is. You cannot obey what you don't know. I want you to study deeply these verses: 1 Cor. 15:1-4. (where, Paul gives the definition of the Gospel), Romans 6:3-4 (where, he tells you how to obey it), Romans 8:1 (where he tells you that there is not condemnation for those “in” Christ) and Gal 3:27 (where he tells you "how" you get “in” Christ). I pray the Lord to help you understand what I am showing you, it is in your benefit. Solo Verdad |

2 | How can anyone be saved? | 1 Cor 2:14 | Jeff W | 140944
Hello, It seems like no matter what I write in this forum, even if I agree totally I always get an arguement. I am not here to argue, nor to show how much I know. I know nothing except what the Lord has revealed through me. Romans 16:26 tells us that we were given the gospel, which is the message of calvary, FOR OBEDIENCE, this is plain english to me, it doesn't need any commentary. I know we have to obey God and all His commandments, but our obedience will not save us, only the grace of God, at the judgement, when He dismisses our case. This is what "saves" us. In you opinion what is the gospel? 1 Cor 15:1-4 gives us a good idea, but where is Paul going with this? What does it mean that Christ died for our sins? Does this take away from our obligation to obey God's laws? Just because we break a law does that do away with it? If you went in front of a judge and he dismissed your case you have just been saved by grace, but what happened to that law? If you are going to quote a verse use the whole thing, Romans 8:1 ends with "who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit." This is a very important piece of information that BTW has been left out of the modern translations. God Bless you Jeff W |

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:1 KJV American Standard Version (ASV 1901) There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus. In Romans 8:1 The statement ends with "Christ Jesus." The last ten words were evidently copied from v. 4, where they properly express the result of "no condemnation," not its cause. Grace to you, Kalos |

Hello Kalos, I could get into quite a discussion about the translation committee, led by Wescott and Hort, who were arrogant enough to re write the Greek text and now it is known the Wescott and Hort text, where most of the modern translations are translated from, but I won't. I am a KJV man only. I believe the Holy Spirit reveals the Word to us, it has little if anything to do with our wisdom. I used to use 10-20 bibles at our bible studies, but found that my choice of which verses sounded good to me was the interpretation I would put on it, so consquently I use KJV and rely on the Holy Spirit, and interactive studies like these to reveal what God wants for me at the time. The important thing to realize is that we must walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit, just like Paul wrote in Col. 2:6 and John wrote in 1 John 2:6. Funny, they are both the same verse number.:) God Bless you Jeff W |
