JRdoc: Quoting your opening statement: "I did not know that Calvinists were not allowed here." Let me ask you where you learned that? Certainly not from any post I've ever entered on this forum in well over a year of active use. If you, a new user, will avail yourself of the Search feature and research Calvinism, you will readily come to the knowledge that hundreds of posts on this subject are in the archives of this forum. I note that you are a Reformed Baptist. Well, I'm a member of the Baptist Church too, Southern Baptist Convention in particular, but I am no Calvinist. I'm a rather prolific writer and poster and assuredly could, if I should feel inclined, make a thousand posts in a row on the topic of my faith and why I think it is right, biblical, and the faith to be espoused and adhered to above all others. There are any number of reasons that I could cite for my not doing this. I will mention only two. The first is that I am not primarily a Baptist, a Southern Baptist or any other kind of Baptist. Neither am I a disciple of Calvinism or any other ism. I am foremost and primarily a Christian. Like C.S.Lewis, I do not sit glued with firm and unmoveable allegiance in any denominational pew. The second reason that I don't actively promote my denominational affiliation is out of concern and respect for the affiliations of other members which are different from mine. On an open forum such as we have here, my sense is that we do harm both to our denomination and to ourselves when we parade our views strictly along doctrinal/denominational lines and when we persist to parade them to the point of being a genuine bore, whatever those views may be and however strongly we may feel about their rightness. I feel that you and I and all others on this forum have a right to participate in it so long as we all of us are mindful of and do not abuse the guidelines for usage that the Lockman Foundation, our host, has established. The goal and aim of this forum, after all, is not to soap box denominational bias but to engage in an exegetical study of the Bible. It is my prayer and fond hope that we can reason together as regenerate believes ought and with an exhibition of love and harmony, lead others to the Fountain at which we, the redeemed in Christ, are by God's grace, allowed to drink freely. I welcome you to the forum and hope to be able to interact with you in singleness of purpose: To grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. --Hank | ||||||

Hank, Praise be to the Lord our God for the wisdom He gives us! There is very much wisdom in your post! You must seek God for wisdom, we know that He gives wisdom to those that ask Him for it. 1 Cor 4:20 For the kingdom of God does not consist in words but in power. Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |
