1 | How can anyone be saved? | 1 Cor 2:14 | EdB | 61207
John In my scenario there was no choice the parents said chose to go or stay home but get in the car thus taking all choice out of it. He had to go. You then said, "If he is forced to go, it would not agree with my understanding of election. If he was left to follow his desire to stay home in spite of his parents wishes and commands, It would agree with my understanding of election." Are you saying as an elect the person CAN choose NOT to accept Christ? If you are then I'm not sure what we have been discussing. I have always held God must make us aware of our sin and need for salvation through Christ Jesus, but God then allows us to accept or reject what Jesus did for us. I’m beginning to suspect as I have always said the difference between election and non election is a matter of semantics, with both sides so bullheaded they refuse to accept the other sides terminology. Dear Ed, "Are you saying as an elect the person CAN choose NOT to accept Christ? I am not saying that. I am saying that the boy will follow the desire of his heart. I fit the heart of stone he was born with, then he will continue to rebel and will stay at home. On the other hand, if God has chosen him for his own, he will recieve a new heart of flesh that will desire to obey. John |

John That is contrary to what Paul said. Paul stated he wanted to do good but his sin nature caused him to do things he didn't want to. EdB |

4 | How can anyone be saved? | 1 Cor 2:14 | John Reformed | 61270
Hi Ed, Paul was speaking of living the christian life, not salvation itself. In fact Paul's conversion is an excellent example of the power of God to save those He had chosen. Thanks, John |
