1 | How can anyone be saved? | 1 Cor 2:14 | John Reformed | 61058
Hank, I have provided Scripture for Unconditional Election. I have yet to see any at all that proves that we elect ourselves. Or if you prefer: that God elects people conditional to their positive response to the gospel. All I get from your side is....God would'nt do that....it's unfair!!! Prove it Scripturally and I will believe it. My tradition comes a distant second to my Bible. John |

John, in your post in which you specifically address me, you say "All I get from your side is...God wouldn't do that...it's unfair!!" To all who have read the rather large number of posts that I have entered on this forum, and to you, John Reformed, in particular, please show me evidence wherein any post that I have ever made at any time by even the remotest of all possible implications would lead any rational human being to the inference that I believe the Holy and Sovereign God to be unfair. You haven't found it and you perfectly well know it, so why did you post such a falsehood as this? You may defend Calvinism till the cows come home if you wish, but you are not going to gain much ground by accusing others of, to use your phraseology, "making light" of Scripture simply because they do not happen to espouse the 5-Point Calvinist doctrine in toto and issuing "friendly admonitions" because they question and challenge certain tenets of the Reformed faith. I think you must enjoy argumentation, for I can find no other viable reason why you continue to play the same TULIP theme to an audience that has already heard it many times over. I do not mean to create undue tension on this forum, but there comes a time when frankness and candor are in order, and that time has come, in my view. Let's stop the innuendo, and the unending soap boxing of one belief system at the expense of all others, and recognize that there exists within each of us -- no matter how fervently we espouse any "ism", any set of theological beliefs -- the capacity to be wrong, whether we like it or not and whether we are willing to admit it or not. Grace to you, and peace. --Hank

Hank: Without hesitation or reservation, I give you my full agreement and support in this matter. To all I say: Where the never-ending, divisive, disruptive debate over Calvinism is concerned -- ENOUGH IS ENOUGH already. GIVE IT A REST, folks. (No one need ask me anything regarding what I believe. My understanding of THE BIBLE DOCTRINE OF ELECTION has been clearly and repeatedly presented in the past. One need only use the SEARCH function, enter the word "election" and my username, kalos, to read what I have already posted.) Grace to you, kalos P.S. You write: "Let's stop . . . the unending soap boxing of one belief system at the expense of all others." I agree and may I add: "Look for people who always seem stuck on one over-emphasized point of theology. This is the person who bangs the proverbial drum for his own little area. Some crazy quirk. And it usually is not some great divine insight. They'd like you to think they're so close to God that they have a great divine insight that no one else has. The fact of the matter is they're seeking a platform for the feeding of their ego. Watch for people with a lack of balance" (heard on Christian radio). |
