1 | How can anyone be saved? | 1 Cor 2:14 | John Reformed | 60972
Sir Pent, This is a non-answer. Please answer it in such a way that the answer satisfys the claims of 1 Cor 2:14. In an earlier post I disagreed with your interpretation of the verse in question.I also supplied my own which included an explanation of why I thought you mistaken an offered my own understanding. You did not reply. Therefore I was forced to assume that you either agreed with me or you still disagreed but had not yet been able to offer me correction. John |

2 | How can anyone be saved? | 1 Cor 2:14 | Emmaus | 60976
John, There is one school of thought on this matter that God in the general call give enough grace to elevate man's free will enough so that he can choose freely and then some still, as Adam and Eve did, choose against God and seal their fate by resisting the Holy Spirit as Stephen accusses the Sanhedrin in Acts. So that "many (all)are called, but few are chosen." Which of course leads to a discussion of irresistable grace and the various kinds of graces, e.g. sufficient, efficaious, et al. Election truly is one of the great divine mysteries. Emmaus |

4 | How can anyone be saved? | 1 Cor 2:14 | Emmaus | 60992
True brothet John. But the mystery in the details of how He does it. If things continue as they have been lately in Florida, I will begin to believe their system of election is also a divine mystery. Emmaus |

5 | How can anyone be saved? | 1 Cor 2:14 | Hank | 61006
Hmmm, Emmaus, I wonder: The TULIP, is it predestined to become the state flower of Florida, do you suppose? An auxiliary question: Do Floridians understand the mystery of election any better than we non-Calvinists -- and even some stalwarts of Calvinism -- do? Just curious. :-) EdB is a citizen of Florida. Perhaps he can help us out on this! --Hank
6 | How can anyone be saved? | 1 Cor 2:14 | EdB | 61036
Hank The mystery of election is truly a mystery in south Florida. Maybe not! Maybe it is stupidity? In Florida the candidates for Governor do not have to pick running mates until after the primary. Therefore Janet Reno was listed as Janet Reno with undecided under her name in the place that would normally be for the running mate. Many people didn't pick her because they read that to mean they were undecided. They then complained there was no spot to vote for Janet Reno. Now is that stupid or what? Truthfully I did not see the Democratic ticket. However on the touch screen that I used if there were two choices you were given two boxes. The one you touched registered the vote. Then before you could finalize anything you were given a list of who you voted for. To make a mistake you would have to try. At least our chad didn’t get hung up! EdB |
