Bible Question: Did Jesus suffer in hell while he was dead for three days? The pastor of my church said he did, but my mother's pastor said he did not. I have not yet found the verse my pastor used. If you even know which verse I'm referring to, please respond with it. Thank you. |
Bible Answer: I would like to reccomend a website that has some excellent and indepth apologetics..one of which deals with this question. www.evangelizeamerica.org Click on Apologetics and scroll down to "Did Jesus Die Spiritually". Let me ask some question? Did Jesus take upon Himself the sins of all mankind (past, present, and future)? Did Jesus tell the disciples "Touch me not for I have not yet ascended to my Father.."?John 20:17 Was physical death the only penalty for the sin of Adam or did he die spiritually? If he died spiritually then why would God only require physical death of Jesus? If physical death was the only penalty, we would all pay that upon our own physical deaths. Was the powerful resurrection of Jusus the firstborn spiritual ressurection? 1 Collosians 12-18 Just points to ponder. We often do not step back and observe the overview message of the Old and New Testament (the single thread weaving throughout). Adam fell and died spiritually and the blood af animals only gave them a point of reference looking forward to Jesus by faith, who would bring about the spiritual rebirth of the dead. I believe this apologetic will be very helpul because there are many scripture references. God bless |
