Bible Note: Pastor Glenn: For some reason it's difficult for me to understand what you are saying in your observation that "God is not impressed with Bible knowledge." There seems to me to be a certain dichotomy between your statement and Paul's who, in writing to Timothy, told him to be diligent to present himself approved to God, a worker who does not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. [Cf.2 Tim. 2:15]. Or again, in 2 Tim. 3:16, the Apostle told his young Christian brother that all Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness. The Psalmist said, "Your word I have hidden in my heart that I might not sin against You." [Ps.119:11]. In verse 50 he said, "Your word has given me life." In verse 105 he said, "Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path." ..... Does this sound to you, Pastor Glenn, like God is saying He is not impressed (or pleased, at any rate) with His people who strive to gain knowledge of His word? Clearly that is not the message I get from Scripture. --Hank |
