Bible Question: Did Jesus suffer in hell while he was dead for three days? The pastor of my church said he did, but my mother's pastor said he did not. I have not yet found the verse my pastor used. If you even know which verse I'm referring to, please respond with it. Thank you. |
Bible Answer: In first Peter 3:19-21 it speaks of "Christ, made alive by the spirit, through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. I have heard people refer to this scripture as evidence that indeed Jesus went into hell to "preach" to the lost souls of Noah's time. I actually think it refers Noah's allowing the spirit to act and speak through him in the years that he worked on the ark.Also,what possible reason could Jesus have had for going to preach to souls already lost? davidxisted |
