Subject: "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! |
Bible Note: You wrote: 'What does it say in Philippians 2:12? "Therefore, my beloved, as you have always OBEYED,...,WORK out your own salvation with fear and trembling"' And what does it say in the very next verse? You wrote: "The person that believes God just hands out a free pass to heaven without requiring some respect is in for a surprise come judgement day!" The Bible says: "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a GIFT by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus" --Romans 3:23-24 "The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand the judgment arose from one transgression resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the FREE GIFT arose from many transgressions resulting in justification." --Romans 5:16 "For the wages of sin is death, but the FREE GIFT of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.' --Romans 6:23 You wrote: "All a person really needs to do is three things. One, love the Lord God with all your heart, mind, body, and soul. Two, love your neighbor as yourself." Oh, is that all? :) Sounds pretty simple. Now who does that to the degree that God requires? You wrote: "Three, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, confess your sins, repent of them by changing your life, and be baptized for the remission of these sins." And how does one change one's life apart from the Holy Spirit already being there? "For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God." --Romans 8:6-8 "Ok, that is a few more than three and there is a fourth. Continue to live a life worthy of our Creator God. Live every minute as though it was your last and give Him the glory." And do you do that in everything you do? Literally EVERYTHING? God's standard is not "doing our best," and even if it were, we still don't do THAT. Those trusting in their own works to get them into heaven rather than clinging to Christ's perfect work on his/her behalf is in for a surprise come judgment day. --Joe! |
