Subject: "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! |
Bible Note: I can KNOW I am saved by doing the things the bible tells me I have to do to be saved. Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The sequence of events in the above passage are as follows: 1. These people heard Peter's sermon so in response to what he said they believed and were "pricked in their hearts" resulting in the question, "What MUST we do to be SAVED?". 2. Peter's response is a) REPENT, b) BE BAPTIZED c)for FORGIVENESS OF SIN and THEN, d) you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. You quote a scripture (Romans 8:5-9) written by Paul. He is speaking to those who have already received salvation by responding to the gospel, in other words they are CHRISTIANS. Ephesians 4:4-6 says, "There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. 1 Cor 12:13 says, "For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit." Colossians 1:18 says, "He is also head of the body, the church;" My point is there is only one body and that body is the church, the CHURCH OF CHRIST. The only theology in the New Testament is that of the church of Christ. My goal is to learn the truth of this theology and spread it. I agree with you that the Holy Spirit acts on hearts that are willing to receive the gospel of truth, but that action does not save a person, only obedience to the commandments of God, through Jesus, accomplish this. |
