Subject: "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! |
Bible Note: Again, I think you are taking the parable too far, judging from its context. All three of the parables in Luke 15 (lost sheep, lost coin, lost son) were in response to the Pharisees grumbling that Jesus was eating with "sinners" (15:2). Just using common sense, as you put it, it seems very unlikely that Jesus is telling a story about having salvation, losing it, and regaining it again, because that doesn't address the problem the Pharisees have with Jesus' actions (unless all of the tax collectors and sinners he were eating with were once saved). The best sense that this parable makes is that the Pharisees are the grumbling brother and that the lost son represents the lost sheep of Israel that Jesus came to seek and to save. --Joe! |
