Subject: "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! |
Bible Note: The primary purpose of the word of God is to address things of spiritual nature. This applies here also. However, I believe you can make secular application also but it would be secondary in importance. The implication here is that "once saved always saved" is error. "...God is light and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth." (1 Jn 1:5) Here John is addressing Christians(John's audience). He tells them that if they say they have fellowship with Jesus, but walk in darkness, they are liars. Walking in darkness implies sin, lying about it is sin. Can God overlook sin? No way. If a saved person sins after having received salvation through baptism and remains in this state of sin until death, God's word says he will be judged for this sin. |
