1 | Did Jesus suffer in hell when he died? | Luke 23:46 | Pastor Glenn | 65359 | ||
EdB, You said, "...the reason I fight WOF is I consider this false teaching to be the most harmful challenge to true Christianity of any lie placed on this earth... ...Everything circles around me in society God is at my beck and call. Humanity is the center of the universe, God has to respond to man. " This is part of the sin condition as men walk in the flesh, rather than in the spirit. False WOF teaching is just one small vulnerability of church goers, for some it is lust for sex, or lust for money, or pride. There is nothing new about these things: 1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. Doers--Not Hearers Only James 1:21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. 26If anyone among you[2] thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless. 27Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. Pastor Glenn Your absolutely right there is much other sin. The problem with WOF is the people are deceived they think their doing right but what they have been proof texted. These lies are creeping into the church and many are getting caught up in them not even realizing they have been deceived. Most never have a problem until they need to rely on their faith and then they find the formulas just aren't working. They then assume God must be the problem and many many walk away. It's a horrible snow ball rolling down hill and it is not easily stopped. I have personally witnessed the devastation this false teaching has brought to families that got caught up in it. I have seen them say we have done everything and we believed God had to do thus and such and He didn’t therefore all that we have believed in is false. When we tell people God has to do something we remove His sovereignty, God does not have to do a thing. EdB |
