1 | Did Jesus suffer in hell when he died? | Luke 23:46 | Pastor Glenn | 65184
justme, I have not read Christianity in Crisis, by Hank Hanegraaff, but I have often listened to "The Bible Answer Man" broadcast. I often think that Hank goes too far in lumping all faith teaching into "word of faith" condemnation. Some statements are very marginal. At the same time, I have heard him play some very outrageous audio statements from Benny Hinn and others. Heb 1:3By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. 6But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Also, Jesus had something to say about ministries in His name: Mark 9: 38 Now John answered Him, saying, "Teacher, we saw someone who does not follow us casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow us." 39But Jesus said, "Do not forbid him, for no one who works a miracle in My name can soon afterward speak evil of Me. 40For he who is not against us is on our[3] side. 41For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward. Pastor Glenn Understand Word of Faith that we are talking about here is birthed in the Metaphysical philosophy. That is to say things do or do not exist depending on whether we speak them into existence or not. Let me give you an extreme but very common example, suppose your driving down the road and your car start to act erratic. The car pulls definitely to the right as if a tire is flat. That is considered a false manifestation of Satan trying to steal your victory. Your tire isn’t really flat unless you confess it by saying, “oh my tire must be flat.” If on the other hand you say in faith, “my tire is perfect” Then God HAS to honor your faith and make the tire perfect. If this fails the Word of Faith has and answer, one of two things are wrong, first your faith might not be strong enough to overcome the false manifestation from Satan or secondly you have un-confessed sin in your life that is hindering you from receiving God highest and best. Notice two big problems here first the metaphysical aspect, nothing exists until we speak it into existence. And the complete overpowering of God’s sovereignty. The idea that “God has to” is a big problem. EdB |

Yes EdB, That is indeed Word of Faith taken to an extreme where it is unbiblical. But how do we arrive at the right balance so that we are not always walking in the other extreme of always being in doubt like Thomas? Jesus Christ spoke against fear and doubt many times. Where did He ever speak against too much faith? It is truly not right to say "my tire is perfect" and expect God to honor your faith concerning the whether or not the tire is flat. But what if we say, instead, "Lord help", while trusting God to bring us through whatever dangers that that flat tire may pose to our safety? I am not defending "Word of Faith" in the way it teaches falsely that words are containers that give us power to change reality. However, I do believe that "words of faith in God" will bring us through, in whatever way He chooses, is biblical. It may be good to start a new thread at Mat 14:29. Pastor Glenn |

4 | Did Jesus suffer in hell when he died? | Luke 23:46 | EdB | 65241
Pastor Glenn The issue is not about faith, too much or too little. The issue is about God and His Sovereignty, whenever we try to impose our will over His we, in elevate ourselves to place of God and demote God. Word of Faith teaches God HAS to honor your faith, while it is true God does desire us to have faith and does honor faith, God does not have to do anything, He is God. We certainly don’t want him honoring our faith when by doing so it would lead us to destruction, harm others, or even effect His plans for our future. Yet that is exactly what Word of Faith teaches, God is subordinate to our will when we exercise proper faith. This simple is not true! It is not a matter going to one extreme or another it is a matter of praying “THY will be done” EdB |

5 | Did Jesus suffer in hell when he died? | Luke 23:46 | Pastor Glenn | 65263
Amen EdB, That reminds me of what Christ said in response to Satan's temptation to jump from the pinnacle of the temple: Luke 4:9Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. 10For it is written: "He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you,' 11and, "In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone."'[Psalm 91:11, 12] 12And Jesus answered and said to him, "It has been said, "You shall not tempt the LORD your God."'[Deuteronomy 6:16] Pastor Glenn |

6 | Did Jesus suffer in hell when he died? | Luke 23:46 | gracefull | 65281
The word tempt means put God to a test. We are not to test God, we are to believe Him. Faith teachers teach to hold fast to the promise of God despite the circumstances. The teaching that we should 'always pray if it by thy will' is unscriptural. Often times prayer is not needed, but faith in His already given provision is needed. Did we pray "God save me if it be thy will" or did we pray Father forgive ma a sinner and save me. Thank you Father". Is that a demand? Is it a demand to say 'thank you Father for the salvation of my children according to your promise..' or do we pray instead " Father save my children if it be thy will?" People, we have an enemy named Satan and he is the on we tell to leave, he is the one we order out. Did not Jesus say "you go in my name (authority) and cast out the devil...etc? Did He say ask God to tell the devil to leave if it was His will? The issue her is not Faith teachers or metaphysics. it is that WE DO NOT REALIZE WHAT CHRIST DID ON THE CROSS!!!!!WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND OUR PROVISION FROM GOD THROUGH CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD!! God help us realize Jesus did not die to just provide us an eternal home in heaven after we die but He died to set us free from the powers of darkness HERE!!!! In Jesus Name |

Hello gracefull 1 John 5:14-15 (ESV) And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. [15] And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. I think the intent is to know His will by careful study of His word before we ask. Steve |

Steve, you are absolutely correct. May I quote from a WOF teacher on this, not to glorfy the teaching, but to demonstrate that the accusation that WOF teachers all disregard the Word for self desires. John 15:7-8 " If you abide in me and My Words abide in you, YOU shall ask what YOU will and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit: and so shall you be my diiples." " It is not only committing the Word to memory, which is valuable, but it is letting that Word become an integral part of our beings. It lives in us." I believe when we receive the Word as alive and transforming(which it is) we begin to recognize the will of God more and more and follow our flesh and soulish tendencies less and less. In Jesus, |
