1 | FTimA, Who is speaking (John 10:28-30)? | Matt 22:37 | Searcher56 | 64515
Scripture ... John 10:1-42 ... FTimA, You say ... The last sentence here states something Jesus never said. John 10:28,29 say, "and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand." Then who said it? Who else gives eternal life? Who hand is "no one will snatch them out of My hand"? Who said, "I and the Father are one" (John 10:30)? If you say someone other than Jesus, do you know the consequences? Searcher |

2 | FTimA, Who is speaking (John 10:28-30)? | Matt 22:37 | FTimA | 64539
Your statement of "In this passage, Christ explicitly declared that no one who has received eternal life will ever lose it." is the one I was referring to, not the scripture. Who said it? You said it. John 10:28,29 "and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. Jesus does not say, "no one who has received eternal life will ever lose it", he says, "I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand." and "no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand." The key phrases here are "neither shall anyone snatch them out of my hand" and "and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand." These two phrases introduce a 3rd person, not the individual Christian (ANYONE SNATCH THEM, NO ONE SNATCH THEM). I will agree that if I am a Christian and pattern my life after Christ that no one, if I am faithful and strong, can pull me away from my faith. This does not mean that I myself cannot become weak and fall back into worldly living. Do you see the difference? The words "no one" represent a person or persons other than the "them" that Christ gave eternal life to. |
