1 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | FTimA | 64410
Acts 2:13 "'AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST DAYS,' God says, 'THAT I WILL POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT ON ALL MANKIND;" 2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance." If God's plan only includes a select "elect" what purpose does Jesus serve? If it has already been predetermined by God who will and who will not be saved why the entire book of books? God could have written this plan in one sentence! How does one know if he/she belongs to the elect and if this knowledge is possible why obey the gospel of Christ if no matter what you do you cannot change your destiny? Calvinism just DOES NOT make sense in the grand scheme of things. |

FTimA: The subjects of [1] Baptismal regeneration, [2] "Once Saved, Always Saved (the eternal security of the believer or perseverance of the saints) and [3] Calvinism, have been discussed and debated at considerable length on this forum. I urge you to do two things: [1] Read the instructions that the owners of this web site, the Lockman Foundation, have laid down in reference to denominational bias. You can access these under the "About the Forum" tab on the left margin of the screen beneath the red "Information" column. [2] Use the Search function to retrieve posts on the subjects that interest you. One friendly caveat: Failure to comply with the established guidelines that are herein stated by the Lockman Foundation could lead to their intervention. --Hank
3 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | FTimA | 64427
I appreciate your concern Hank and have read the information. My desire is to teach the truth from the bible as it is written. I will make every attempt to use scripture to support my position rather than opinion. If the Lockman Foundation decides that "speak(ing) the things which are fitting for sound doctrine" (Titus 2:1) from God's word is "Pushing ones own personal and denominational views" I am sure they will let me know. I have been exposed to many different "doctrines" in my experience as a Christian and have found that all of them are a result of a man, or men, twisting what was God breathed to the holy Apostles and written down by these or other men inspired of God. When a person or persons make difficult that which is so simple by design with regards to obedience and worship to God, they nullify the words of Jesus when he said, "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." (Mt 11:28-30)

FTimA: I note from your user profile that you are a member of the group known as "The Church of Christ," which comes as no surprise to me, having guessed it from your first post. Although it claims not to be a denomination, it fits the definition hand in glove. ..... Furthermore, allow me to quote a sentence from your user profile and susequently question you about it. The quote is, "Denominationalism is a product of Satan working through men to thwart the truth of the one true church." Strong words, those, and by them do you mean to say that the denomination of which I happen to be a member, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), is a product of Satan? Are you prepared to aver and prove that the Presbyterian, Methodist, Assemblies of God, Lutheran, Catholic, etc. are also products of Satan? These, friend, are strong words indeed, and you will need to "gird up your loins" in a most extraordinary manner in order to defend this outright attack on the majority of the members of this forum. --Hank
5 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | FTimA | 64486
How many churches are mentioned in the Bible? The churches of Asia (1 Corinthians 16:9) The churches of Christ (Romans 16:16) The church of Ephesus (Revelation 2:1) The churches of Galatia (1 Corinthians 16:1) The church of the firstborn (Hebrews 12:23) The churches of the Gentiles (Romans 16:4) The church of God (Acts 20:28, 1 Corinthians 1:2, 10:32, 11:22, 15:9, Galatians 1:13, 1 Timothy 3:5) The churches of Judea (Galatians 1:22) The church of the Laodecians (Colossians 4:16, Revelation 3:3) The churches of Macedonia (2 Corinthians 8:1) The church of the Thessalonians (1 Thessalonians 1:1) The word church appears in the New Testament approximately 108 times. These are just a few. The key though is that in every occurrence it refers to the same one, the one body purchased by the blood of Christ. In Acts 20:28, Paul says to the elders of the church at Ephesus, “Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.” Where do you find "Presbyterian, Methodist, Assemblies of God, Lutheran, Catholic, etc." in the bible? |
