1 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | Rom831 | 30673
I disagree, there are three parables in a row - lost sheep, lost coin, lost son. Why would the first two talk about one thing and then the third completely switch when it 100 percent fits and expands on the first two? As far as giving up the inheritance, loosing it would imply that he did something wrong and it was taken from him. This did not happen. Instead, he gave it up. Is there precident for this? Genesis 25:31-34. Esau gave his inheritance away to get food, just as the prodigal gave his away for earthly wealth. And what happened to Jacob and Esau? God loved Jacob and hated Esau (Mal 1:2-3). In the same sense, when the prodigal forfited his inheritance, he became dead to God until he came back to Him. Bless...ArtS |

2 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | bygraceyearesaved | 30685
Was the prodigal son's father angry with him at any time? There is absolutely no indication of that in scripture. He just wanted his son to see the foolishness of his behavior and come on home. The father never stopped accepting the son, although the prodigal felt that way. Because the prodigal didn"t understand his own identity, he believed he was unworthy of an intimate relationship with his father. He thought that he had forfeited the right to relate to his father as a son and that his father would reject him.He saw himself as a bad person who could only hope to be a servant in his father's house.Did the father show any reluctance to receive him? This boy was his son!!!!Nothing would ever change that. He was his son BEFORE he went to the far country, while he was IN the far country, and when he came BACK from the far country. Nothing changes sonship!!!! The prodigal had forgotten who he was,but the father had never forgotten for a moment. The father did give him the inheritance .Do you think the father suspected how the son would waste it? He had lived with the boy every day of the child's life and the father knew his son's weakness. It didn't shock the father when the son left home for the far country. The father allowed him to leave, knowing that he would waste the money on a wild fling.Do you think our sins surprise God? He knows you;Nothing we do surprises an omniscient God.I'm not saying that God doesn"t care when we sin. It grieves the heart of our Father when he sees us make foolish choices, but it doesn't surprise HIM. For example as biological parents it hurts us to see our children make foolish choices but that doesn"t mean we stop loving and forgiving them (and it definitely doesn't surprise us!!)SO tell me "How did the prodigal son become dead to God until he came back to HIM?
3 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | Rom831 | 30691
That's very pretty. But You are writing between the lines. Look at what it DOES say, not what you'd like it to say. Does the son or the father say the son was lost? The father. Does the son or the father say the son was dead? The father. How did he become dead to the father? Just as the verse says: Luke 15:24 for this son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.' And they began to celebrate. Its right there. It may not be as fun and goody goody as your version, but its what God says. Bless...ArtS |

4 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | bygraceyearesaved | 30809
God Bless You ArtS, The father thought the son was physically and spritually dead and when the son tryed to give his CONFESSION speech on how he had made a foolish decision by sinning AGAINST HEAVEN the father accepted the son for who was and didn't charge the son for what he did because the father knew and understood that he made a bad decision and the reason the father thought the son was dead because the son went out and forgot who he was(verse17) and he wasn't able to survive on his own ,like i wrote before the father knew his sons' weakness. |

9 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | Rom831 | 30890
He was not physically dead. He was dead to God. Just like all non believers are (Let the dead bury the dead). When he returned to God, he was made alive "again" in God. Bless...ArtS |

11 | How was the prodigal resurrected? | Matt 22:37 | charis | 30999
Dear bygraceyearesaved, Greetings in Jesus' name! If the prodigal son was spiritually dead, then again made spiritually alive, what (or Who) made him alive again? Was it his decision to return? His father's reception? Was it the remorse he felt? Was it the bad food? Or maybe it was the grace of God 're-applied?' My favorite is that the grace of God never departed from him, and continued to work to convict him to return home. Blessings in Christ Jesus, charis |
