1 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | FTimA | 64216 | ||
If I misunderstood please forgive me. I cite 2 Timothy 3:16,17, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for DOCTRINE, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." Notice that the word doctrine is in all caps. If Acts is scripture then isn't Acts profitable for doctrine? |

Greetings FTimA! If I may, the point that Brad is making is simply that not all statements in Scripture teach doctrine. Some verses simply record history, ect... For instance, Ps. 14:1 says, "The fool says in his heart, ??There is no God.? They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good." To take this statement of the fool and use it to teach that there is really no God would be a gross misuse of a verse of Scripture. In the same way, narrative statements don't necessarily mean that something should be done a certain way, they simply record what was done. Any value judgement about a particular action must be based upon declarative statements of Scripture. We are not baptized because Peter was baptized. We are baptized because Christ commanded us to be baptized. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
