2 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | bygraceyearesaved | 30512
This is coming from bygraceyearesaved, I did not mean to start a debate when I presented the "Once saved always saved" concept(1/11/02). Some of you got offended, and so you started throwing in theories(Calvinist),legalism and other points that got away from the initial question. So now let's analyze the phrase the "old man" that Paul referred to describing our old sin nature that gave us our identity before we got saved by Grace, through faith.Since we have only one nature now. the nature of Jesus Christ, the question is "What happened to our old man? "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new". We have already discovered God has created a NEW person when we trusted Christ as our Savior.Maybe you haven't believed that your old sin nature is dead. "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives IN ME; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by FAITH in the IN SON OF GOD, who loved me and gave HIMSELF for me (Gal.2:20).When Paul said he had "been crucified with Christ", he spoke of a past event. The Greek word translated "crucified" is in the present tense, indicating that it was a historical event which continues to have present implications. He went on to say, "It is no longer I who live." There is an unavoidable truth in this verse. Our sin nature died with Jesus Christ on the cross almost 2,000 years ago. If you have trouble accepting that fact, then consider this question IF IT WASN'T OUR SIN NATURE THAT DIED, WHAT DID DIE?(Rom.6:2-3,and 6-8)
