1 | "a thorn in the side"? or Not? | 1 John 2:2 | GeorJoy | 100670
Mommapbs, how “You” or I see it is of no consequence. How it is, is of great consequence. Perhaps you would disagree, this would depend heavily upon your experience and surroundings, but what I see in today’s society is what Ezekiel was told to say to his countrymen in the 33rd chapter of his book. In addition, I see a Church today that is so concerned with the feelings of others (loving their neighbor, as some would call it,) that they simply never knew, or have forgotten what is in front of them when they open their bible. Or, perhaps they are following that bible too closely… Not “The” Bible, (the KJV,) “that bible.” You know. The one that promotes political correctness and if it feels good, do it; one of the many “so called bibles” that twist scripture. The greatest commandment is to love your neighbor, yet what does the word love mean in today’s society? How many Christians can give a correct definition of the word love. If one loves another, will they not correct the other? How many Christians today discipline a child in a biblical manor? Thank God, many do, but Lord help, because just as many or more are turning to the secular “time out” method of discipline. Does the bible not say “Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.?” I know what you may be thinking… But a true Christian is NOT going to beat a child till he dies. If this is blunt, don’t blame me. Take it up with the one who wrote it. Shame seems no longer shame in this society. Look at our last president and the example that he set. “The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.” Are we not all children in the eyes of our God? Who among us is an adult? Who among us has the unmitigated gall to teach the word in its unleavened purity. Thank God, a few, but they are very few and very far in between. Greetings George - thank you for the clarification. So would you say that the church should not be focusing on "seeker friendly" hooks? Is it wrong to be focused on about "getting 'em in" and "getting 'em saved"? mommapbs PS: BTW, my church is considering eliminating their pew Bibles because the Scripture for each sermon is printed in the bulletin notes and on the AV screen during the message. Sad, isn't it? |

3 | "a thorn in the side"? or Not? | 1 John 2:2 | GeorJoy | 100681
Let me answer this question with a number of questions. (1) In the first place, has the church ever saved anyone? (2) Did the Apostles conform to the times? Technology is good, but simplicity is better. It is so simple that even a babe (or an old person) can understand it. (3) If it takes conforming to the ways of the world to get them in to the church, what has the church become? Worldly? Has the salt not lost its savor? (4) What is the duty of the church? Surely this day and time, anyone who wants a bible can acquire one. I should think pew bibles could be an invitation for acquirement. Tell your church to leave them where they are, and forget them. Let the congregation know that they are there for those who haven’t one of their own. Chances are that they’ll be all gone in a few years anyway. Exhorting In Christ George |

4 | "a thorn in the side"? or Not? | 1 John 2:2 | Mommapbs | 100696
How did Jesus minister to the people? He went to them. When the people saw Him or heard about Him from others, then, by their choice, they went to where He was. Zacheeus even went up a tree. So should it be in our churches - we are Christ's ambassadors; we represent Jesus where ever we go. And yet so many believers think that their job is to just get people to come to church so that they will hear the Gospel from the preacher. If we as believers can not present the simple Gospel to our friends and co-workers right where THEY are, is there something wrong? Is Evangelism a corporate directive? To me, it is a personal one. Jesus didn't say go and bring the world in - He told us to go out into all the world . . . and tell others about Him! mommapbs |

6 | "a thorn in the side"? or Not? | 1 John 2:2 | Mommapbs | 101015
GeorJoy - just today I had the wonderful privilege of telling a dear young woman about Jesus. I have been wondering why God has placed me in this place (a private laboratory), and over the last few weeks I see that He is at work there. I would identify some people there as "believers", yet I also perceive that they are in need of encouragement and discipleship in their faith. As the Lord opens the door, I pray for courage to "speak His Name!" Thanks in advance for praying with me on this! mommapbs |

Your thanks dear Sister is not required. My thanks and prayers for those such as yourself, and those of all who serve our Lord and Master are. I ask for the prayers of all the saints who read these words that you, they, and I will have doors opened for the privilege of planting and nourishing His seed, without failure, that we will reconize and take advantage of even the slightest of opporitunities to serve, and glorify His mercifull and loving name, and that discouragement and failure will be non existant.
