NASB | 1 John 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 2:2 And He [that same Jesus] is the propitiation for our sins [the atoning sacrifice that holds back the wrath of God that would otherwise be directed at us because of our sinful nature--our worldliness, our lifestyle]; and not for ours alone, but also for [the sins of all believers throughout] the whole world. |
Subject: "a thorn in the side"? or Not? |
Bible Note: Thank you. I make no claim to either know or understand it all where the Word is concerned. However, I do have all the answers! Or, I should say that, at the very least, as everyone else, in this country does, I have "access" to them. And I firmly believe that the Holy Spirit will guide me when it comes to the interpretation thereof. There is much in the Word that needs interpreting. Likewise there is much that needs no interpreting. Our sinful nature blinds us to the differentiation. Wisdom dictates that in its entirety, the Word interprets itself. The following is as plain as the nose on the face. Yet those who refuse to see will not see even that far. Eze 33:8 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Eze 33:9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. This is one of many passages which need no interpretation. Yet in their sinful nature, there are many who will totally change the meaning thereof by “so called” interpretation. How much plainer can it be? Exhorter, In Christ George |
