NASB | 1 John 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 2:2 And He [that same Jesus] is the propitiation for our sins [the atoning sacrifice that holds back the wrath of God that would otherwise be directed at us because of our sinful nature--our worldliness, our lifestyle]; and not for ours alone, but also for [the sins of all believers throughout] the whole world. |
Subject: How do we preach the Gospel? |
Bible Note: George The discipline known as Christian apologist is a defender of the Word. Ravi Zacharias is probably the most skilled at combating human logic and humanist philosophy to show the Bible is truely the word of God. My answer was to a person that used common arguments that have been shot down many times in many ways by non believers and I suggestted he listen to Ravi to get an idea of what one can really be up against when trying to present the gospel. Many people have to have their logic defeated before they will stop being so self absorbed to listen to the truth. I was offering that advice. I'm not down playing the power of the Holy Spirit or the Word of God. God can and does accomplish what he desires. However He often uses us to do it and has given us the intellect to use to accomplish His desire. EdB |
