NASB | 1 John 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 2:2 And He [that same Jesus] is the propitiation for our sins [the atoning sacrifice that holds back the wrath of God that would otherwise be directed at us because of our sinful nature--our worldliness, our lifestyle]; and not for ours alone, but also for [the sins of all believers throughout] the whole world. |
Subject: How do we preach the Gospel? |
Bible Note: You state; "then using the Bible would perhaps produce little or no results." You make it sound as though under the circumstances you depict, the bible is useless, and that reasoning will take its place. I beg to differ! One dosen't beat someone over the head with the bible or try to shove it down their throat, yet the bible is THE essential tool. Please forgive me if I sound blunt, but your post reeks of “humanism.” Likewise, you contradict yourself from your first sentence. You start by stating; “Truly the Bible is God's Word.” Then you contradict this by stating “using the Bible would perhaps produce little or no results.” I don’t care what the circumstances are!!! SUCH A STATEMENT IS SPAWNED BY SOMETHING OTHER THAN THE HOLY SPIRIT!!! In your defense, I prefer to call it a simple lack of biblical knowledge. I could not force myself to read further than your first few sentences… That is all I needed to read. It is apparent from such a statement, and such a drawn out and wordy defense of your position, that you have little faith in the word of God, for such a statement shows either a lack of knowledge or a total lack of faith in the Gods word. Your note portrays an exceptionally bad case of what is referred to in 2Ti 3:7 I would strongly suggest dear brother, that before you make an attempt to convince others, you convince yourself. And that you realize that the “Living Water” commonly known as the Word, can not be replaced by yours or anyone else’s “reasoning… This is where today’s Church is falling far short of its calling… Perhaps you simply didn't think before you spoke, so I mean no discredit on you my brother but, have you ever read the passage pertaining to the removal of the mote in ones eye prior to their trying to remove the splinter from the eye of another, or perhaps what is said concerning the blind leading the blind?
