NASB | 1 John 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 2:2 And He [that same Jesus] is the propitiation for our sins [the atoning sacrifice that holds back the wrath of God that would otherwise be directed at us because of our sinful nature--our worldliness, our lifestyle]; and not for ours alone, but also for [the sins of all believers throughout] the whole world. |
Subject: "a thorn in the side"? or Not? |
Bible Note: How did Jesus minister to the people? He went to them. When the people saw Him or heard about Him from others, then, by their choice, they went to where He was. Zacheeus even went up a tree. So should it be in our churches - we are Christ's ambassadors; we represent Jesus where ever we go. And yet so many believers think that their job is to just get people to come to church so that they will hear the Gospel from the preacher. If we as believers can not present the simple Gospel to our friends and co-workers right where THEY are, is there something wrong? Is Evangelism a corporate directive? To me, it is a personal one. Jesus didn't say go and bring the world in - He told us to go out into all the world . . . and tell others about Him! mommapbs |
