NASB | 1 John 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 2:2 And He [that same Jesus] is the propitiation for our sins [the atoning sacrifice that holds back the wrath of God that would otherwise be directed at us because of our sinful nature--our worldliness, our lifestyle]; and not for ours alone, but also for [the sins of all believers throughout] the whole world. |
Subject: How do we preach the Gospel? |
Bible Note: Jehonadab You asked? If someone does not accept the Bible as God's word, then tell how you would convince them there is a Creator? This dilemma is covered in Josh Macdowells books, Evidence that demands a verdict Vol 1 and 2. Basically you point to the order found in creation and through logic show this order could not just happen. I over simplify and in doing so do an injustice to Josh’s two books. This order is the stumbling block of most Evolutionary scientist and has caused most to conclude evolution can not have created creation. However the refuse to publicly state this, for as soon as they do they lose their funding and their job. It is hard to be a evolutionary scientist if you prove evolution can work. If your really interested the I suggest you read the books, also once again Ravi Zacharias has done extensive work in answering these questions and written a book on the subject. EdB |
