NASB | 1 John 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 2:2 And He [that same Jesus] is the propitiation for our sins [the atoning sacrifice that holds back the wrath of God that would otherwise be directed at us because of our sinful nature--our worldliness, our lifestyle]; and not for ours alone, but also for [the sins of all believers throughout] the whole world. |
Subject: How do we preach the Gospel? |
Bible Note: Ed, your thoughts and frustration are mine... When I go to church today and look on the pulpit and surrounding area, the first word that comes to mind is "performance." There is rarely if ever an "altar call." I am constantly searching for a church that does more than just "feed the flock." If only the flock were as fat Spiritually as "we" are physically!!! Our Lord didn't come for the sake of the saved. He came for the sake of the sinner. Once again, what you have written has already been written. In Christ George |
