NASB | 1 John 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 2:2 And He [that same Jesus] is the propitiation for our sins [the atoning sacrifice that holds back the wrath of God that would otherwise be directed at us because of our sinful nature--our worldliness, our lifestyle]; and not for ours alone, but also for [the sins of all believers throughout] the whole world. |
Subject: How do we preach the Gospel? |
Bible Note: It is not that I have a low regard for the practice... I know that anyone who defends anything is considered an apologist. I would prefer to coin the word "explainist;" One who explains. For I make NO appologies for the Word, or the Divinity thereof. I will however gladly devote my life to its explination, for those less given to understanding and acceptance. I simply do not like the word, APOLOGIST. It implys, "to apologize for." Yet it is defined as follows 1 : systematic argumentative discourse in defense (as of a doctrine) 2 : a branch of theology devoted to the defense of the divine origin and authority of Christianity.
